What to expect
Art in the Park is a free, drop-in summer community art program where people of all ages are invited to create art together in Burnaby parks with a professional artist.
This year's theme, Creatures of the Water, led by Dawn Lo, encourages participants to explore their connection to parks and nature. Contribute drawings, writing or poems to a collaborative growing illustrated river, or create your own imaginative water creature to take home.
A variety of art materials will be provided, including pastels, acrylic paint pens and construction paper.
Program set-ups vary by location. Some activities may take place on the ground, while others may be at picnic tables. Participants are welcome to bring a blanket or portable seating for their comfort.

Note: On Thursday, July 30 at Wesburn Park and Friday, July 31 at Edmonds Park, enjoy a surprise musical accompaniment as part of the Art in the Park experience.
A videographer will be onsite on July 31 capturing footage for community storytelling purposes.
About Dawn Lo
Growing up in both Hong Kong and Canada, Dawn Lo is an artist that currently resides in Burnaby, BC. Lo tends to create quirky and whimsical works that are inspired by little moments from everyday life with a nod to the Asian diaspora. Her work has appeared in picture books, zines, stationery, public art installations and more.
