Burnaby Junk Day

Have a garage, shed, attic or basement to clean out? Our second annual Junk Day is your free, one-stop drop-off to get a jump start on your home clean-up!
Back by popular demand, for 1 day, we’re inviting you to drop off any kind of household junk you’ve got at the Sill Creek Works Yard—even items we don’t normally accept! On June 14, bring your hard-to-dispose items to the Still Creek Works Yard (across from the Eco-Centre) and we’ll recycle what we can, and divert the rest into the appropriate waste stream at no charge.
This is the perfect time to get rid of some of that clutter around your home, including items that would normally need to be taken to a Metro Vancouver facility and be charged a fee for disposal. Bring us items like:
- Mattresses
- Old furniture
- Scrap metal and appliances (big and small)
- Bagged garbage
- Recyclables (cardboard, mixed paper, mixed containers, etc.)
- Paints, solvents, aerosol cans
- Electronics
- Batteries (household, car)
- Many other categories of household junk!
Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver will be on-site accepting donations of gently-used clothing and household items to support local youth mentorship programs, empowering children to reach their potential. Potential donation items include:
- Reusable clean clothes (bagged) – to be donated
- Reusable books (bagged) – to be donated
- Gently-used appliances and housewares in good condition.

Event tips
- When packing items into your vehicle, keep your items grouped for easy sorting. Pack garbage, recyclable items, and reusable items (like clothes and books) for donation separately.
- Have your Burnaby residence information available – for example, your driver’s license, or a utility bill with a Burnaby address.
- Follow event signage and staff direction to get in and out quickly.
Getting into the Works Yard
- To drive into the drop-off area, vehicles must be driving east on Still Creek Drive and enter the yard with a right-hand turn. Our traffic control staff will not allow left-hand turns, to keep traffic moving.
- You can use the roundabout at Eastbrook Parkway to turn around if you’re approaching from the opposite direction, as below.
- Our staff will check your Burnaby residency while your vehicle is queueing, and direct you to your unloading area. You'll need to unload your vehicle yourself, but our staff can assist with sorting your items.
Event Conditions
- Burnaby residents only
- No commercial vehicles
- No construction or demolition waste
- Max trailer length of 20 ft
- Max load per vehicle 1 tonne (2200 lbs)
- No green waste – this can be accepted at the Eco Centre across the street.
