
Celebrate the spooky season with us! Everyone is invited to join in the family-friendly Halloween celebrations at Central Park as we introduce a new signature event in Burnaby – Central Spark!
Join us along Patterson Avenue (Kingsway to Central Boulevard) and Central Park (corner of Kingsway and Patterson Ave). The event starts at 6:30 pm and ends with a fireworks finale in Central Park at 8:15 pm. The event will finish at approximately 8:30 pm.
There is free fun for everyone including a spooky outdoor maze, roving entertainment, carnival games, art activities, a photobooth, food trucks and a fireworks finale all taking place in Central Park.
Costumes are encouraged!

To ensure the safety of both residents and event participants and to accommodate some of the planned activities, please be advised that traffic will not be permitted on the following streets from 4 pm on October 27 to 12:01 am on October 28.
- Patterson Ave: from Kingsway to Central Blvd. (exception: Local traffic for residents of 5790/5852/5932 Patterson Ave.)
Access to underground parking for residents will be maintained. Please plan ahead to avoid closures, crowds and parking restrictions in the area.
Parking on the streets noted above as well as Beresford St between Patterson and Willingdon and both sides of Patterson between Central Blvd and Mayberry Ave. will be restricted to “No Parking” or “Special Event Parking” between 12:01 am on October 27 to noon on October 28.
If you live in the area of the parking restrictions, please ensure that your vehicle is moved from the street by 11:59 pm on Thursday, October 26, 2023. Any vehicles that are not moved will be towed. If your vehicle has been towed, please call 604-526-9677.
We ask that you please modify your parking and travel plans to avoid the road closures and parking restrictions on Friday, October 27, 2023.
If you take transit, please be advised that bus services will also be impacted in the area.
- Patterson SkyTrain Station will remain open with regular service.
- Bus service 129 on Patterson Ave will be re-routed and the stops at Patterson Ave & Kingsway (Northbound and Southbound) will be closed on October 27 from 4 pm to 10:30 pm.
Questions and answers
Yes! As part of Central Spark there will be a number of food trucks located on Patterson Ave between Central Blvd and Kingsway.
Central Spark is a non-smoking event, and there is no smoking allowed in Burnaby parks. There will be no designated smoking areas within the event area. Learn more about smoke-free Burnaby.
The fireworks finale is scheduled to begin at 8:15 pm and will last about 15 minutes.
The event is very kid friendly and it will be slightly spooky and will not involve depictions of gore or violence. Everyone is welcome to attend and there will be plenty of activities and treats geared specifically for young children.
Yes. Portable toilets will be available throughout the event site.
Due to the busy nature of the event site, visitors are encouraged to leave their pets at home, but service animals with proper identification are permitted. Fireworks can be very frightening for pets.
Yes, there will be a water refill station at Central Park.
The event is designed to happen rain or shine. Tents will be provided throughout the site for shelter, including a warming tent with heaters.
