Join the City of Burnaby and participate in the 2026 City Nature Challenge, part of a global event to observe and record the biodiversity of living things! Help us to explore and share the incredible biodiversity of our area by observing nature all around us—birds, bats, butterflies, mollusks, trees, ferns and more! Between April 24 and 27, record as many wild plants and animals as possible throughout the district on land, in the air and in our marine environments.

Make any observations in Burnaby using photos or sound recordings from April 24–27. You can send them in through iNaturalist any time until May 10.
Join us on one of our guided walks to learn how to use iNaturalist, getting some practice before the challenge! You’ll learn how to use the app while helping collect valuable data on plants, animals, insects and birds across Burnaby.
