Festive Village
Come experience Festive Village with presenting partner Concord Pacific at Burnaby Village Museum. Enjoy the special atmosphere of festive lights and the traditional decorations. Wander the museum’s 10 acre open air site and take in all the seasonal entertainment, demonstrations and activities. Gate admission is free. Carousel rides are $2.71 each. Enjoy a meal or treat at Mai's Cafe, formerly the Ice Cream Parlour, or other offerings from food trucks.

Bright in Burnaby
Saturday, November 29, 5-9pm
Mark your calendars for November 29 at 6:30 pm for the Bright in Burnaby tree lighting ceremony at Burnaby Village Museum’s Festive Village. This special event supports those in need during the holiday season, with all proceeds from carousel rides between 5 and 9 pm going to the Burnaby Christmas Bureau. Concord Pacific will generously match all donations.

Questions and answers
Festive Village is free to attend and no tickets are necessary! Due to its popularity, we may reach capacity during peak hours and weekends. For everyone’s safety, entry could be limited and transition into an entry model - as people depart, new guests enter. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as our staff work to accommodate all guests.
The event will proceed snow, rain or shine, so please dress appropriately for the weather. In the case of severe snow, check our website and social media channels for the latest updates on event status and possible closures.
Although patrons are welcome to explore the interiors of many of our exhibits, most of the Museum is outdoors.
The carousel will be open. Rides are $2.71+ tax, or you can purchase the Bakers Dozen (13 rides) for $32.50+ tax. Ride tickets can be purchased at the Main Gate or at the Carousel Gift Shop.
Holiday themed food will be available for purchase at Mai’s Cafe. The cafe closes at 8:30 pm. And food trucks will be available on site, open on various dates. Food and drinks are not permitted in the exhibition spaces.
Yes, but no outside food can be taken into Mai’s café. Benches are located around the village for seating.
Pets, with the exception of service animals, are not permitted on site.
There is limited parking around the Burnaby Village Museum. We recommend taking transit or ride sharing. Parking is available in the Burnaby Village parking lot, City Hall parking lot, Deer Lake parking lot, Deer Lake beach and Deer Lake 1 public paid parking lots. For your convenience, there is a pick-up and drop-off area located on Deer Lake Avenue across from the Carousel Gate entrance.
There are two entrances. The Main Gate entrance is located off Canada Way and Sperling Avenue and the Carousel Gate entrance is located on Deer Lake Avenue.
Nearly every facility at the Museum is wheelchair accessible and stroller friendly. A paved pathway connects buildings on the historic ground. Please note that Tom Irvine’s House is not accessible.
Yes, strollers and wagons are welcome on site. We encourage you to park them in the designated stroller parking areas outside exhibit spaces.
No, there are no strobe light effects due to light sensitivities. This event involves dramatic lighting, like LED lights.
Family snapshots are permitted as long as they are not impeding other visitors and their experience.
All safety and etiquette rules must be adhered to. Please abide by the following rules:
- Free standing lamps or bounce lighting equipment of any kind in or around the museum is strictly prohibited.
- Tripods or monopods are not allowed.
- Couples/parties are allowed photos on the Carousel as long as they each pay for a ticket to ride. You may not monopolize the ride. Other riders will be allowed on the Carousel. You may take photos will the Carousel is stopped, dependent on Carousel Operator discretion.
- Booked parties have preference over non-booked when it comes to location of on-site photos. Booked groups have a Museum staff person with them to assist with the use of space.
- Non-booked parties are welcome to stay on-site during our public hours.
- Photography in buildings is subject to the Interpreter’s permission. You must stay behind the barriers, as any other public visitor would.
- Photographs are allowed on the ICP patio, as this is a public space.
- Commercial photography for profit is prohibited unless approved by the Museum Administration.
