A singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer, Aysanabee’s music has been variously described as introspective folk, indie-pop-rock, and R&B – but the deep soul in his voice comes through in whatever song he sings.
Armed with a timeless voice, Toronto-based jazz vocalist, songwriter and bandleader, Ale Avery Nunez has firm roots in jazz and soul and a true dedication to swing.
The lyrical storytelling of his songs is evidence of his background in theatre. His storytelling is sometimes painful, deep and real, an earthy contrast to modern-day commercial music, meant to create thought, underlined by gentle tones from his guitar or banjo finger-picking.
Citing such diverse influences as Leonard Bernstein, philosophy, Joni Mitchell, Buddhism and Bach, Sarah Slean’s music borrows aspects of cabaret, pop, and orchestral, all knit together by the startling poetry of her lyrics, unique arranging and piano-playing, and that voice, described by the CBC as “a 19th century Kate Bush”.
Our music is well-rooted in the gypsy jazz of 1930's Paris France, but beyond that it's all pure blue-skying; flights of dazzling fancy, driving rhythms and boundless creativity, featuring original compositions and arrangements including humorous mash-ups wearing their eclectic influences in full regalia.
