Basant Panchami heralds the arrival of spring in the vast landscapes of India, a season of renewal, learning, and artistic inspiration. Ramneek Singh is an internationally-acclaimed Hindustani classical vocalist, originally from New Delhi, India and now based in Canada. She has created her own niche in the music world through her unique style and her compelling voice. She comes from the rich lineage of Ustad Amir Khan’s Indore Gharana (school). The Indore Gharana is a prominent tradition within North Indian Hindustani classical music which melds the spiritual quality of dhrupad with the ornate embellishments of khyal (both Hindustani vocal forms). Ramneek is proficient in other musical genres and styles including Sufiana and Folk, and has performed all over the world. Her mesmerizing voice spans three octaves, and leaves a powerful and lasting effect on audiences wherever she performs.
Ramneek Singh (vocals) will be accompanied by Mohan Bhide (harmonium) and Sunny Matharu (tabla).
