City of Burnaby named as one of the top employers in British Columbia

Last updated: March 26, 2024

The City of Burnaby has been named as one of BC’s Top Employers by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers.

“This recognition reflects the sense of community that our staff have worked hard to build across the City over a number of years,” said Mayor Mike Hurley. “We are committed to creating a workplace that celebrates diversity and innovation and where staff feel empowered to improve the lives of Burnaby residents.”

The annual list compiled by Canada’s Top 100 Employers identifies organizations that stand out for their workplace excellence, employee benefits and overall commitment to employee satisfaction. The City is honored to be acknowledged alongside other outstanding employers in the province.

Over the past two years, the City has worked with staff to draft and implement a new Burnaby Strategic Plan which outlines the core values for staff to strive towards in their work: Community, Integrity, Respect, Innovation and Passion. The plan was officially adopted in 2022 and has served as a foundational pillar as the City continues to reshape our workplace to meet the needs of staff and the community we serve.

This achievement reinforces the City of Burnaby's position as a leading employer in British Columbia, dedicated to attracting and retaining top talent while fostering a workplace that values diversity, innovation and excellence.
