Canada Day in Burnaby draws record-breaking crowds

Last updated: July 3, 2025

A record-breaking 71,000 plus people celebrated Canada Day at three events in Burnaby—at Edmonds Plaza and Park, Burnaby Village Museum and Central Park.

“StreetFest on Central has grown into one of the biggest and best Canada Day celebrations in the region – and this year was better than ever,” said Mayor Mike Hurley. “A huge thank you to the performers, staff and volunteers who helped make this event such an incredible success.”

On July 1, 2025, the City of Burnaby hosted three Canada Day events around Burnaby with celebrations showcasing the best of Burnaby’s incredibly diverse community. At Edmonds Plaza and Park, entertainment included live performances from crowd-favourite, Rainshadow and a Zumba demonstration, amongst other entertainment, community booths and activities. Over at the Burnaby Village Museum, Burnaby’s official Canada Day celebration offered multicultural family entertainment, displays, games and carousel rides. The night concluded with entertainment, community booths along Central Boulevard and performances from headliners, MAGIC! and Asad+Friends. Fireworks capped the night.

The City is grateful to the 71,000 plus people who attended the festivities around Burnaby, as well as the staff, volunteers and partners, including presenting partner of StreetFest on Central, Concord Pacific. We would also like to acknowledge the support from RBC, the Government of Canada and Miss604 who continue to make Burnaby’s Canada Day events possible. We look forward to continuing these partnerships in 2026 and seeing what next year brings.
