One of the best parts about living in Burnaby is how many transportation options are available to our residents–and the City of Burnaby is working hard to ensure that as our community grows, so does our transportation network.
Data from the 2024 Burnaby Household Travel Survey indicates that Burnaby residents make over half a million trips per day–and 37% of those trips are made by walking, cycling or taking transit. Building a transportation network that works for Burnaby residents means providing safe, accessible options that meet the needs of our residents.
Examples of new connections to make it safer, faster and more convenient to travel include:
- Building out our sidewalk network
- Working to ensure car share programs can expand in Burnaby
- Building a City-wide network of EV chargers at City facilities
- Rapid implementation of improvements to the Edmonds Cycling Network
- Building the Burnaby Lake Overpass, connecting two major destination parks in Burnaby
Whether it’s by car, SkyTrain or other transit options, or by cycling and other active modes–moving around Burnaby is quick and convenient. These projects are just a few of the many ways we’re investing in our transportation network to improve connections in our community.
