Concord Pacific returns for the 4th year as Presenting Partner of Canada Day
The Canada Day street party, StreetFest on Central, with presenting partner, Concord Pacific, returns for its fourth edition with Dragonette as this year's headliner.
“StreetFest on Central is one of the biggest and best Canada Day celebrations in BC, bringing people together for an evening of music, culture and community in the heart of our city," said Mayor Mike Hurley. "We’re excited to welcome everyone back for another unforgettable celebration.”
Terry Hui, President and CEO of Concord Pacific, said, “We at Concord Pacific are proud of our more than 30-year tradition of supporting events and creating large public spaces that began with the Expo 86 Lands. This year marks our fourth year presenting Burnaby’s Canada Day celebrations, as well as the beginning of construction on Dawson Park — Burnaby’s first new community park since 2005.”
StreetFest on Central will kick off at 6:30 pm, featuring food trucks, family-friendly activities, live performances and a spectacular fireworks finale. The celebration is free to attend.
The event will be headlined by Juno Award–winning electro pop artist Dragonette. This Toronto-based group brings chart topping hits and high energy live performances shaped by global collaborations and major festival appearances.
Also taking the mainstage is Alicia Cr,eti a Montreal born singer songwriter with rich, soulful vocals and deeply personal storytelling. Her music explores love, heartbreak and self reflection through a genre defying blend of nostalgic soul and modern songwriting.
Joining the lineup is Logan Staats, who hails from Six Nations of the Grand River and is recognized as one of Canada’s cultural tastemakers. His music pairs gritty, compelling songwriting with raw, authentic and high-energy performances.
Rounding out the program is Burnaby’s own Jordel, a dynamic artist whose eclectic sound reflects influences from Frank Ocean, Miguel and Prince, creating a timeless, world-class performance style.
The celebration will cap off with a fireworks show at 10:15 pm.
Road closures and alternate transportation methods
Road closures will be in effect along Patterson Avenue as well as Central Boulevard and Beresford Street (between Patterson and Willingdon avenues) to provide maximum space for visitors.
With Metrotown and Patterson SkyTrain stations nearby, there are plenty of ways to get to the festival. Visitors are encouraged to take transit, cycle or walk. A bike valet will be available at the tennis courts at Patterson and Mayberry. For attendees with a SPARC pass, a drop-off and pick-up area will be located on Olive Avenue, accessed off Kingsway. Please leave pets at home.
Multiple free festivals on Canada Day in Burnaby
While the StreetFest on Central is set for the evening, Canada Day festivities will be taking place also throughout the day at Burnaby Village Museum and Edmonds Plaza and Park.
