The Shadbolt Centre for the Arts is thrilled to announce its 2026-27 theatre season, featuring a diverse selection of performances that celebrate the richness of live theatre and the vibrant talent within our community and beyond.
Vocals: Our season opens September 20, with Montreal-based singer-songwriter Basia Bulat, who brings an intimate solo performance of her 2025 album, Basia’s Palace. Then, JUNO award-winning David Francey, hailed as “one of Canada’s most revered folk poets and singers,” by the Toronto Star, graces the stage on April 10, 2027. We wrap up the season on May 15, 2027, with PIQIQ, throat singers Inuksuk Mackay and Tiffany Ayalik, Inuit sisters from Yellowknife, Northwest Territories with roots in Nunavut’s Kitikmeot and Kivalliq Regions.
Comedy: Award-winning stand-up comedian Steve Patterson, host of the CBC’s The Debaters, hosts an evening of comedy and off-the-cuff wit on September 23.
Music: After performing at the community stage in 2025 at Burnaby Blues and Roots Festival, Ruby Singh & The Future Ancestors return for an evening of soulful music on November 20. Then, two JUNO award nominees take the stage in 2027: Canadian Mi'kmaq fiddler and singer Morgan Toney on March 11, and Ndidi O, brings blues, contemporary roots and folk on May 1.
Theatre: Arts Club on Tour brings: Mom’s the Word: Talkin’ Turkey on November 5-6, Summer, 1976 on February 6-7, 2027, and Little Women on March 18-21. On January 28-30, witness the world premiere of Bella Luz, a heartfelt and fast-paced story that flips the script on the Canadian immigrant dream.
Dance: Ballet BC Annex returns October 18, bringing contemporary dance to audiences of all ages. Then, 2026 Deer Lake Artists in Residence, Soma Anima Arts brings music, dance, words and imagery on November 27-28 in Bright Shadow.
