Skating at Kensington Complex

First time on the ice–or a rink regular? We offer lots of opportunities to learn and enjoy ice skating through lessons, public skates or hockey, for all ages and abilities.

During the spring and summer we switch to floor season. Enjoy in-line skating during the spring.

For select skating activities, Burnaby residents can reserve spots online or by phone 48 hours in advance. Non-Burnaby residents can make reservations 24 hours in advance. No waitlists are available. Pay when you arrive.

Family Hockey & Ringette (6-13 years with an adult)
Enjoy family time at the rink playing recreational hockey or ringette! Adult participation is mandatory. CSA-approved helmet with face mask or visor and hockey gloves are mandatory. Full hockey is gear is recommended for children. Bring your own sticks. Supervised.
Family Skate (children with guardian 16 yrs+)
Adults and kids skate together in a family friendly environment.
Figure Skating - Level Star 2+ (8-17 years and 18 yrs+)
Practice your jumps and spins! Previous figure skating experience required (Star 2 or higher, not for beginner skaters). Please bring your own equipment.
Lap Skate (8 yrs+)
Fitness lap skating with frequent direction changes. Skate aids are not available.
Parent & Tot Skate & Hockey (2-5 years with an adult)
Enjoy playtime on the ice with your child. Skate aids, toys and sport equipment are available for your enjoyment. The ice is shared with lessons.
Pond Hockey (13-17 years)
Join us for this supervised hockey session. Games are played widthwise to create that outdoor rink feel. Staff will create teams to ensure all participants are included. CSA-approved with face mask or visor and hockey gloves are mandatory. Full hockey equipment is recommended.
Pond Ringette (13-17 years)
Join us for this supervised ringette session. Games are played widthwise to create that outdoor rink feel. Staff will create teams to ensure all participants are included. CSA-approved with face mask or visor and hockey gloves are mandatory. Full ringette equipment is recommended.
Public Skate (all ages)
Everyone is welcome! Call ahead for group bookings.
Recreational Hockey (18 yrs+ and 50 yrs+)
Lace up your skates for a casual game of hockey. CSA-approved helmet with face mask or visor and hockey gloves are mandatory. Full hockey gear is recommended. No-check rules apply. Goalies must wear full gear. Not supervised.
Recreational Ringette (18 yrs+)
Come out and get a great workout with a casual game of hockey. CSA-approved helmet with face mask or visor, full ringette equipment and ringette gloves are mandatory. No-check rules apply. Goalies must wear full gear. Not supervised.
Shoot & Score (8-17 years and 18 yrs+)
Work on your stickhandling and shooting skills. CSA-approved helmet with face mask or visor and hockey gloves are mandatory. Goalies must wear full gear. No instruction provided.
Teen Toonie Skate (8-17 years)
Drop-in, play games and activities. Admission andskate rental are $2!
Toonie Skate (all ages)
Drop-in and enjoy a vibrant skating atmosphere for all ages. Admission and skate rental are $2!

Children's admission policy

Children 7 years of age or younger MUST be accompanied on the ice by a person 16 years of age or older on skates. The ratio of children to accompanying persons must be no greater than 3 to 1. We do not recommend that parents / guardians leave their children under 10 years old unaccompanied at our facility. For children 12 years and under, a CSA-approved helmet is mandatory.
