Sisters Tiffany Ayalik and Inuksuk Mackay come together as PIQSIQ to perform Inuit style throat singing. As PIQSIQ they have recorded four studio albums and perform improvisational looping live, creating a dynamic audience experience that changes with every show. Their performances combine ancient traditional songs with eerie new compositions leaving their listeners with possible answers to the question “What is the meaning of life?” The sisters grew up in Yellowknife where they developed their unique skill and sound, and grew to understand that throat singing is not only a musical expression but a radical, political act of cultural revitalization.
