Learn about scams affecting community members including investment & cryptocurrency, employment, home improvement, online purchase, advance loan fee, phishing and impersonation scams. Learn simple ways to stay safe from scams, like keeping your personal details private, making sure links are real, and confirming if a business is legitimate. The Better Business Bureau will explain why it’s important to use multi-factor authentication, how to create strong passwords, and how to use their scam tracker tool.
Understanding Gender-Based Violence

Gender-based violence (GBV) doesn’t happen in isolation. It’s shaped by our society making excuses for harmful behaviour, the roles we expect people to play based on their gender and unfair systems that affect many people in our community. In this session, BC Society of Transition Houses (BCSTH) explains what leads to GBV and clears up some common misunderstandings about violence in our communities. You’ll also learn about programs and services available to support women, children, and youth who are experiencing violence in BC. Come join us to improve your skills in spotting GBV, how to offer support, and help create a safer community for everyone.
