Recreation Credit Program

Sign up and join in–low income isn't a barrier to enjoying a healthy and active life in Burnaby

Burnaby’s Recreation Credit program supports Burnaby residents in financial need. Qualifying applicants will receive a credit in our registration system that can be used at any Burnaby Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services facility for registered programs.

Do you qualify?

Here's what you need to confirm in order to qualify for the Recreation Credit Program:

  • You live in Burnaby.
  • You're a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or government assisted refugee.
  • You meet the low income criteria outlined on the application form, or you receive government income assistance.

The Recreation Credit application form provides more detail and lists the supporting documents you'll need to include with your application.

Completed applications are reviewed and approved by agencies listed on the form.

Getting started - using your Recreation Credit

Once your application is approved, you'll receive a confirmation letter with your Recreation Credit information.

Please note: The Recreation Credit Program is meant to help towards the cost of some of your recreation activities. You are responsible for any costs not covered by your Recreation Credit.

Programs you can register for

View eligible programs and activities you can pay for using your Recreation Credits.

Please note: There are a few programs that aren't eligible for Recreation Credit use–golf, private lessons, birthday parties and drop-ins.

What happens when it expires?

You can apply for and receive the Recreation Credit once a year–and it's valid for a year. Any unused credit will be removed from your account when it expires.

Please note: The Recreation Credit has no cash value; refunds on purchases using the Recreation Credit will be returned to your Recreation Credit account.
