No Smoking in Parks, Trails & Green Spaces | No Charcoal Barbeques in Parks

Due to the dry weather and heat that could result in fire hazards, the City of Burnaby advises all park users that there is NO SMOKING permitted in the Burnaby parks, trails and green spaces.

Charcoal barbeques in City of Burnaby parks and beaches are prohibited. At this time, only propane gas barbeques are permitted. Please check the city’s website for updates on whether all types of barbequing will be banned if conditions worsen.

Welcome to the City of Burnaby Fire Department

Fireworks, Permits & Safety Tips

  • Fireworks are available for sale to anyone over the age of 18 between October 25 and October 31 from licensed retailers.
  • Fireworks may only be discharged on October 31, on private property, with the consent of the property owner.
  • Fireworks may be discharged on public lands with a permit from the Fire Chief. Learn more about permits and read our Halloween Fireworks Tips.

Our fire department is committed to providing the highest level of fire related emergency services to protect life and property in the City of Burnaby. 

We continue to provide our staff the ability to enhance and upgrade their skills in  Emergency Response, Public Education, and Fire Prevention to best serve our citizens and community.

Burnaby Firefighters volunteer countless hours in the community through the Burnaby Firefighters Charitable Society, which supports various fundraising events and established charitable programs.  Our goals are to support those who are in need as well as enhance the quality of life for all. 

The Burnaby Fire Department is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of the people we serve.
