Welcome to Burnaby Art Gallery

As the only public art museum in Canada dedicated to collecting works of art on paper, the gallery endeavours to represent a variety of techniques and practices from artists of diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Closed September 1-11: Burnaby Art Gallery will be closed for the installation of our next exhibition, New Acquisitions. Please join us in the opening reception September 11, 7-9 pm or when we reopen with regular hours on Friday, September 12.

Closed Thursday, September 18: Burnaby Art Gallery and BAG Barn Studios will be closed due to a scheduled BC Hydro power outage.

Roofing project underway: Construction has begun on the Burnaby Art Gallery and will continue through October 2025. The accessible washroom located on the main floor is currently unavailable. On-site parking is limited during construction. Visitors are encouraged to walk, roll, bike, carpool or use public transit when possible. Thank you for your patience and support as we work to preserve this historic facility.

Accessible washroom closed for repairs: The accessible washroom is currently closed during construction. Please go to the Shadbolt Centre next door for an accessible washroom.

What's on

Our exhibitions form the basis of our programming and outreach to thousands of visitors every year. Learn more about art at one of our engaging curator and artist talks or tours, participate in a symposium, or view our permanent art collection. We offer demonstrations, workshops, and school programs with artists, educators and other specialists.

Our exhibitions change regularly and admission is always free, though donations are graciously accepted.

Parking

  • The Burnaby Art Gallery has limited parking. Visitors are encouraged to walk, roll, bike, carpool or use public transit when possible.
  • Two electric vehicle spaces are available on Deer Lake Avenue.
  • Deer Lake Avenue also has some street parking. After business hours, there may be additional free parking areas at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts and the Burnaby Village Museum.

Accessibility

  • There are two designated parking stalls provided in the surface parking next to the gallery entrance.
  • There is a paved path leading to a wheelchair lift that provides access to the main floor of the Burnaby Art Gallery. The lift is located to the left of the front entrance. The second level is not wheelchair accessible. 
  • There is a wheelchair accessible washroom located on the main floor.
