Burnaby is building a safer, more connected cycling network

Last updated: October 16, 2023

Cycling isn’t just a recreational activity—it’s a sustainable mode of transportation that benefits our health, our environment and our community.

The City’s latest video highlights how we’re putting the development of our cycling network into high gear by building new connections, safer routes and making major upgrades to neighbourhood routes across our community.

There are already over 70 kilometres of bike routes in Burnaby. With major projects such as the Burnaby Lake Overpass and the Vancouver-SFU Cycling Connection now underway, we’re building a path to achieve our active transportation goals.

Our innovative, rapid implementation approach is starting paying off for Burnaby residents, who have provided real-time feedback as we develop our neighbourhood cycling networks.
