City invites residents to learn more about traffic safety in North Burnaby

Last updated: January 31, 2024

Burnaby residents will have the opportunity to learn more about recent traffic safety improvements in North Burnaby at an open house hosted by the City on February 21.

The North Burnaby Traffic Calming Study was initiated to improve travel safety in the Burnaby Heights/Capitol Hill neighbourhoods. Following a comprehensive study and considering valuable public feedback, City Council made the decision to permanently close three side streets (Gamma Avenue, Beta Avenue and the laneway) south of Penzance Drive. These three side streets will be closed to general vehicle traffic while maintaining emergency vehicle access.

Residents are invited to attend the drop-in open house on February 21, where they can learn more about the Penzance Drive closures and engage with our project team to ask any questions. No registration is required to attend.

Date: Wednesday, February 21, 2024
Time: 4-8 pm
Location: Confederation Seniors’ Centre
Address: 4585 Albert St, Burnaby, BC

Traffic calming measures are designed to enhance accessibility and foster healthier and more sustainable modes of transportation, such as walking, rolling and cycling to align with the Connecting Burnaby, Burnaby Transportation Plan, and the City's Climate Action Framework.
