City announces new sidewalk construction

As part of the City’s New Sidewalks Program, we are pleased to announce the installation of new sidewalks on Gilmore Avenue, Carleton Avenue, Dunnedin/Carnegie  streets and Portland Street. Construction is expected to begin in late 2024.

Residents and/or property owners in the affected areas will receive a letter from the City and we will also host a series of drop-in open house sessions in June at various locations. Residents are invited to attend the session in their neighbourhood to learn more about the upgrades and ask any questions.

The City of Burnaby has updated its transportation plan, which includes sidewalks and cycling infrastructure. New sidewalks are being constructed throughout Burnaby to improve accessibility and promote walking as a safe, healthy and sustainable mode of transportation.
