The City of Burnaby is exploring the creation of a new bike learning zone – designed to provide young riders with a safe, engaging space to practice road safety skills.
As part of this feasibility study, the City is seeking input from residents to assess the current needs of parents with young riders. Your feedback will help us understand public interest and inform Council’s future decisions.

Bike learning zones, also known as traffic gardens or bike playgrounds, have been used around the world for nearly a century. These simplified, street-like spaces offer children a hands-on experience to understand the rules of the road and develop biking skills while promoting physical activity through play.
This initiative also supports Burnaby’s commitment to active transportation and early road safety education. It aligns with key City strategies, including the Burnaby Transportation Plan and Climate Action Framework.
