City announces new sidewalk construction

Last updated: October 7, 2025

As part of the City’s New Sidewalks Program, we will be building new sidewalks on Gilmore Avenue, Triumph Street, Carleton Avenue, Rosser Avenue and Madison Avenue. Construction is expected to start in 2026.

We’re building new sidewalks in response to what we’ve heard from you. You told us that Burnaby needs a high-quality pedestrian network and we’re delivering. New sidewalks will be funded by our existing capital reserves and do not require any additional funding from taxpayers.

If you live in one of the affected areas, you will receive a letter with more details. You’re also invited to an open house where you can learn more about the planned upgrades and chat with the project team.
