City of Burnaby Crime Prevention Services invites you to join us for free information sessions on a variety of topics to help keep you informed on ways to stay safe. Stay informed on the latest trends in crime prevention and what to look out for. New information sessions are added each month.

This session will help you better understand elder abuse, including the warning signs to watch for and steps you can take to seek help for yourself or someone you know. Confidential support is available and learning how to recognize concerns early can make a meaningful difference.
Seniors First BC shares real-life examples of elder abuse and provides guidance on how to respond and report concerns. Learn how to protect yourself and your loved ones and how to access available supports including:
Seniors Abuse and Information Line (SAIL)
Victim Services
Public education programs
Legal services
Older adults (55+) are valued members of our community, yet many experience abuse in silence. Elder abuse goes beyond physical harm. It can also include emotional, psychological, financial and sexual abuse. Neglect is also a serious concern, where caregivers fail to meet an individual’s basic needs or provide adequate support.
