Burnaby’s Savings – Reserve Funds and Reserves

Burnaby is in the fortunate position of being able to draw from its savings – which we call reserve funds and reserves – to pay for the many significant capital projects under way in the city. This short video demonstrates how we use our savings and their tremendous value, as they allow us to complete major projects without looking to taxpayers to fund them.

Financial accountability is achieved through reporting, monitoring, controlling and auditing programs managed by the Finance Department.

The Annual Financial Plan, and the Annual Municipal Report highlight the activities of the City each year in a number of areas and provide key financial information. These annual reports serve as an opportunity to communicate with citizens, business leaders, and other interested parties regarding the City’s financial performance, priorities and direction for the future.
