Cameron–the civic heart of Lougheed Town Centre

Cameron Recreation Centre has been providing a variety of recreation, social and learning programs along with the Cameron Library Branch for nearly 40 years. 

Plans are underway to replace the Cameron Community Centre and Library with new facilities designed to better meet the needs of northeast Burnaby’s growing and changing population.

Schedules

Do you have a toddler and looking for something fun to do? Join us for Tiny Tikes! 

Together with your child, explore and play with a wide variety of toys. Your kids can enjoy ride-on toys, climbers, soccer, basketball and floor hockey. 

Tiny Tikes details: 

  • children 1-5 years (no charge)
  • children must be accompanied by at least one participating adult ($1.90 + tax per adult or Be Active Pass accepted)
  • pre mobile infants are welcome if they are in a stroller or a snuggly 
  • drop-in only (first come first served up to a maximum of 60 people total)
  • Drop in payments begin 30 minutes prior to activity start time 
  • schedule subject to change (not available on statutory holidays)

Schedule effective until further notice

  • Monday, 5:15-6:15 pm and 6:30-7:30 pm
  • Saturday, 9-10 am
  • Sunday, 9:30-10:30 am and 10:45-11:45 am

Cameron Park outdoor fitness area has been specially designed to provide the kind of exercise that assists seniors to stretch, strengthen and maintain overall physical fitness and co-ordination. There are twelve pieces of equipment on a rubberized surface adjacent to the community centre and outdoor seating.

Cameron's 55+ Centre is one of 4 Burnaby centres that specialize in programs for adults 55 years and older. These are busy, friendly places where you can meet and socialize, learn new skills and enjoy creative leisure time. Currently, our centre is only open for pre-registered programs.

Accessibility

Automatic entrance doors are provided at both main entrances to the building.

Access to Senior’s Centre is located on the upper floor is provided through the entrances on that level, located on Cameron Street at the front of the Centre, and off the parking lot to the rear of the Centre. 

Accessible washroom stalls are available in each men’s and women’s washroom equipped with automatic doors.

Come to our library serving northeast Burnaby to learn, meet with others, request services or simply sink into a good book. Get into our print, audio-visual and digital collections; ask for help with technology and information; book community meeting rooms; or try one of our programs.

Parking

There are five designated parking stalls provided for the site. Two stalls are available in the western surface parking lot near the entrance to the Cameron Recreation Centre. Three additional stalls are provided in the eastern surface parking lot, near the north entrance to the library.

Entry/ Interior Access

All recreational facilities on the lower floor of the recreation centre, including showers and sauna, are accessible. Access between the lower and upper floors is provided through an interior wheelchair lift in the west entrance stairwell. Patrons are asked to seek staff assistance to use.

Access to the Multi-Purpose Room, Art Room, and Senior’s Centre located on the upper floor is provided through the entrances on that level, located on Cameron Street at the front of the Centre, and off the parking lot to the rear of the Centre. All upper floor entrances as well as the lower floor west entrance have automatic doors.

Washrooms

Accessible washrooms are provided on both floors. Upper floor washrooms are equipped with automatic doors.

Last paid admission 30 minutes before closing. Everyone must promptly exit the building at facility closing time.
